Stewardship
Stewardship is how we understand and use the gifts God has given us. These gifts include our time, talents, and treasures. From its very beginning, Tuskawilla Presbyterian has been a church of good stewards—people who contributed money and sweat equity as they built our congregation and our facilities, and developed the service and mission programs we continue to support today.
Proverbs 23:18 says, “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” The quality of our tomorrows depends on our willingness to be good stewards today.
Here are some questions about stewardship you may have:
Why do I need to pledge? We pledge because God has pledged Himself to us. We pledge because we have been richly blessed and so we in turn need to be that blessing for others. On a more practical note, your pledge helps the church leadership make sound budget decisions for the coming year.
How much should I pledge? The amount of your pledge is a private issue between you and God. While it’s easy to get caught up in worrying about how much the church needs to operate—and that is indeed important—we must also remember that stewardship is an opportunity to express our gratitude for God’s many blessings.
There are so many worthwhile organizations that desperately need money; how do I decide how much to give to each one? This has been a year of one tragic disaster after another, and our personal resources have been stretched thin. Pray to God for the guidance you need. God asks you to give in proportion as you have received. Your pledge is a way to praise Him and help continue His work on Earth.
